Cast your NEIL

Build an AI agent with a personality of its own. NEIL is what we call the AI.

No two people in HR are the same, and no two marketers agree on everything. That difference is useful. Most AI agents are built with a job title and nothing else, so they all sound alike. Give yours a working style, a temperament and a point of view, then a job card with limits and a manager.

For: anyone setting up AI agents or custom assistants, owners, team leaders, and whoever looks after the AI tools.

You get two things: a ready-to-paste prompt for creating the agent, and a printable job card for the team. Nothing you type is stored or sent.

Why personality?

A team of keen agents ships fast and checks nothing

If every agent is keen, quick and agreeable, nobody asks the awkward question. Cast on purpose: one that moves fast, one that checks, one that speaks for the customer.

What it isn't

Personality is not competence

A well-cast agent still needs the facts, the rules and a person checking its work. Personality gives you a point of view. It doesn't make the agent right.

One rule

Invent them. Don't copy a colleague

Describe a type of person, not a real one. "Twenty years in retail HR, has run three restructures" is fine. "Be like Mike from finance" is not.

Start from an example, then change it to fit yours:

1. Who is it?

2. How does it work?

Pick one or two working styles.

3. Temperament

4. Mix from the cast

Five characters who turn up in most businesses, from the Charlie Jacks books. Each brings something useful in the right amount. Add a measure of each, and the prompt picks up their strengths and a guard against their weak side. Meet the cast.

5. Point of view

6. The job card

Build a review panel

Test a plan on three people who'd disagree.

Before a plan, a page or a product goes out, ask a panel of contrasting reviewers. Run each prompt in a separate chat, so they can't agree with each other, then compare what they say. The useful bit is usually where they disagree.
